Melt my cold, icy heart!

This little girl has done it. She has melted my black heart.
Emme is my 16 month old niece and she is the sweetest little girl with quite the little personality. And maybe an attitude? Wonder where she gets that!

Santa's Troubles! Oh My!

Something tells me that my demands both as a child and as an adult helped get Santa to where he is in this photo. This is the window of the Moschino boutique in New York. Love it.

O Tannenbaum...

This is my Christmas tree.

It has one lonely "ornament" on it, a pair of Christmas Hanky Pankies, hehehe. Creative decorating on my part, I know.

I'm Throwing on my Louboutins

J. Lo and the Housewives of Atlanta are almost ruining it for me. But not quite.

Sigh. Not much else to say!

Crate and Barrel...sigh.

Crate and Barrel KILLS me this time of year. I want one of everything. And I want it now. I MAY attempt to put up a tree this year. I bought a tree skirt last year, sans tree because I liked it so much. And it matches my stockings. But I don't have a fireplace or mantle in my new apartment.

I stopped into Crate and Barrel this weekend to get a dear friend a little engagement surprise and get a (really early) wedding gift for another dear friend and I got roped into spending an hour in the store staring at all the shiny decorations and dreaming of the most cookie cutter non-original Christmas tree. And I loved every minute of it. Happy Holidays!

The Arclight Makes Me Happy

There is a theater in Hollywood called the Arclight. It's my Disneyland. It makes me happy for so many reasons. There is assigned seating, so there is no need to ask the nice lady in row K to scoot down so I can sit next to my sister to see "Love Actually". You can pick your seats so you don't get stuck in the 3rd row on the far right with your brother-in-law to see "Borat" and get a crick in your neck while the fat guy's ginormous balls fly across the screen. The employees are happy and they love their jobs. Their name tags have their favorite movies below their names. Bravo to the ones brave enough to be truthful and not put down what will make them look cool and hipster-ish. And you're bound to see a celebrity or two, or even have the director introduce the movie on any random night.

This is the best part though...right after the previews are played, and before the feature starts, there is this theme music that has gongs that play brings a smile to my face. Every time. I remember my first trip there, wondering what all the fuss was about. I have been hooked ever since.

Arclight, I love you.

The Great Debate: QDoba vs Chipotle

I really struggle with this debate. I really think I could eat Mexican food for every meal of the day. I used to say that hands down I was a QDoba kind of a girl. Don't get me wrong, I still heart QDoba. With that said, I must say that Chipotle is really creeping up on QDoba's lead. Maybe it's because the closest Q to me is about 25 miles away (and by LA standards that's close to an hour by car). I can often get to Chipotle at the Grove or Beverly Center in under ten minutes. Point: Chipotle.

In college, there was this little Mexican joint on State Sreet named Z-Teca. We came, we loved, we conquered the burritos. Sophomore year, a little franchise called QDoba took over and introduced me to putting queso on your burrito; Point: QDoba. It really was life changing. We often left the KK and meandered over to QDoba on our way home to wait in line for 45 minutes and pound a 1000 calorie burrito at 3 AM; Point: Slightly overweight college years. Then there were the sober times when we would skip class on a rainy day and watch endless hours of TV and make Cravens drive us to the QDoba near the hospital to get take out. Fun college memories...Point: QDoba.

Then I moved to LA where QDobas are few and far between. I had to adjust to the Chipotle burritos. Over the years, I have learned to like them more and more. They have better chips than QDoba (more hint of lime); Point: Chipotle. And less fatty chicken; Point Chipotle. But Qdoba has better guacamole; Point: QDoba.

I am going to go ahead and dock Chiptole one point for not naming itself something easier for the idiots in America. It's pronounced Chi-pote-LAY. NOT Chip-ohlt-eeeee. Chipotle: -1.

Summary of points:
Chipotle: 2
QDoba: 3
Slightly Overweight College years: 1

I fear that this is a debate that my friends and I will always discuss, and maybe someday we will agree one way or the other. I am at peace with admitting that I like Chipotle almost as much as QDoba. One thing I do know, is that if Chipotle added queso to their menu, it would be a whole new ball game. Someone please send this to Chipotle corporate in Colorado.

Happy eating!

Being a Badger fan...

We are knee deep in football season (yay!), and strange things have been happening in the Big Ten. I tune in week after week to see what will happen with my beloved alma mater.

Wisconsin started the season out NOT ranked in the top 25. I am not saying that we deserved to be, because we certainly didn't after last year's embarrassments. Then, Iowa came out of NOWHERE and had an undefeated record, up until they were placed on Sports Illustrated's cover and Stanzi sprained his ankle and they lost to an unranked team. Oy. Enough about Iowa. Onto what is important. The Badgers. You see, being a Badger fan is a bit tricky at times. It's not for the faint of heart. No, sir. I often say being a Bager fan is like a relationship with an ex-boyfriend. You know, the kind that you just can't seem to shake off your leg no matter how hard you try. At the beginning of the season, you seem to have forgotten about your heartache, heartbreak and breakup. Things seem ok. You only remember the good times you had, the afternoons frolicking in the fields of daisies hand in hand, not really but you get the picture. And then a few weeks in, you are reminded of why you broke up, what drove you nuts about Bielema (er, your ex) and that you just don't need that in your life. And then something happens again, he might say the right thing to you (they might start winning a few games) and then you're back on the badwagon just to be let down again. Sigh.

I know that there are some years where this isn't the case. Ron Dayne's run with the Badgers under Alvarez's rule was pretty spectacular and nothing like a relationship with an ex. But then Barry decided he was done. And he handed a pot of gold to a young man named Bielema. And what did Bielema do? He didn't KNOW what to do with it, that's what. And don't get me started about his choice in windbreakers. Greg, Patrick and Tonya can all attest to the fact that he brings the rage out in me. In fact, on Saturday mornings, you can often find me sharing angry texts and BBMs with my afforementioned friends.

There you have it. Although I complain a lot about the boys, I will always be a fan of the Badgers. No matter how many times they let me down. And one thing will never change, I will always hate The Ohio State, they are a bunch of pansies. On Wisconsin!
