We had insane amounts of rain last week in La La. Which translates into insane amounts of snow in las montanas. It took us around 8 hours to get there. Once we got there, we were told the road to our cabin wasn't plowed. We decided to check out out for ourselves. No dice. Sent the boys trudging through the snow to see if we could dig our way in and the cabin was so buried you couldn't even see the front door. Much like this:Epic fail. Hotels all sold out. I offered some dude at an inn $100 if we could crash on the couches in his lobby and he wasn't very compassionate to our situation and basically told me to go eff myself. Total douche. All right dude, I didn't want to sleep on your floral couch anyways. So, we ended up deciding at 3:30 to sleep in the car. 4 people. And we left it running. Really smart.
Believe it or not, it was a fun experience and the snow was AMAZING. Big Bear has since shut down to the public: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-bigbear25-2010jan25,0,6492588.story. They are out of gas and food. We are lucky!
What an adventure. It might be a hot minute before I attempt to go back there though.
